What is BWRT®?

Neuroscience, not magic

BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy®.

It is a modern model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist Terence Watts, MCGI.

It uses a practical working method where it is not necessary to discuss anything you would rather not talk about. The practitioner only needs to know how you feel and how you would prefer to feel instead.

How BWRT® Works

Fast, effective change

BWRT® works with how the brain forms automatic responses, allowing change without needing to repeatedly relive or analyse distressing experiences.

BWRT® is not hypnosis and it is not meditation. Protocols used depend on the issue, but you remain fully conscious, involved and in dialogue with me throughout the session.

I will guide you through a structured process designed to help change unwanted patterns at a deeper level, including the thoughts, emotions, and automatic responses that influence how you feel and act.

Privacy

Share only what you want

BWRT® allows a strong level of privacy.

You do not need to disclose details you are not comfortable sharing in order for the process to be effective.

All client information is treated as strictly confidential and is stored in accordance with applicable professional, legal, and GDPR requirements.

About Me

Practical, respectful, and focused on change

I’m a Registered BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® Practitioner, trained by creator Terence Watts, MCGI.

Having been through trauma and the struggle to heal from it, I’m intent on helping people create meaningful change without unnecessary repetition of painful experiences.

My Approach

Understanding the brain’s automatic responses

I believe therapy should feel safe, collaborative, and focused on where you want to go, not only what has happened in the past.

BWRT® works with the brain’s automatic responses, helping people change patterns that may feel stuck or difficult to shift.

Sessions are structured, focused, and designed to help create change while keeping you fully involved throughout the process.

My Values

Evidence-informed, client-focused support

Personally experiencing the value of working through emotional patterns means I understand that meaningful change is a process.

Everything I ask of clients is approached with respect, compassion, and an understanding that everyone’s experience is different.

My aim is to provide a calm, professional space where you can work towards the changes you want to make.

But, really, who am I?

Life and career experience mattered equally in my desire to pivot fully to coaching and therapy.

Before becoming a BWRT® Practitioner, I spent over 20 years working across business, operations, management, and systems improvement in fields from Veterinary Medicine to Video Gaming to owning a restaurant. I have worked with teams, managed projects, deployed systems, solved problems, and helped organisations adapt through periods of change.

Without a doubt, training was always my favourite part of every role. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch someone grasp a new skill, grow in confidence, and realise they’re capable of far more than they thought possible.

I have been through my own experiences of trauma, change, and rebuilding. I know what it is like to carry things that affect how you think, feel, and respond. I also know the difference that effective support and the right tools can make when you are ready for something to change.

This combination of professional experience and personal understanding allows me to work with people from a place of both knowledge and genuine empathy.

Whether you are working through anxiety, confidence issues, emotional patterns, personal change, or looking to grow in your career or business, I’m excited to work with you!

~ Mary Alice
